We Are Here Scotland Creators Fund has been set up to provide BPoC artists and creatives with funding opportunities that will help them progress in their professional development whether that be funding for:
New equipment
Residencies
Individual projects
Collaborative projects
Exhibitions
Showcases
We have now delivered 3 successful rounds of micro-funding and with the help of a judging panel and application process, 21 people have now been selected and have received £500 each and mentoring from industry professionals. This fund is aimed at not only providing financial support but also practical career advice, support and guidance.
These are the people we have supported so far:
We are now moving into the next phase of funding more creatives.
The application process for Round 4 will open in 2024
We require £3500 for each round, i.e. £500 x 7 participants, therefore we are continuing our fundraising.
In terms of challenging the inequalities within Scotland's creative industries, we need to ensure that the developing careers of BPoC creatives are supported on a consistent and meaningful basis. And the Creators' Fund is a small way in which we move things forward and maintain a presence in Scotland that we hope can inspire future generations of artists, and creatives and also be the start of a much-needed discussion regarding representation in Scotland's creative industries.
Support for the We Are Here Scotland Creators Fund’s aim is to make a significant impact for many BPoC creatives in Scotland.
